The value of our veterans.

It is hard to get away from the news of NFL replacement referees, how plays are blown and games are lost.  And, even more breaking news of how the NFL’s referee lockout has ended and the regular referees will be returning to the game tonight.  The regular referees will see an increase to their 6-figure income next year.

But wait!  Is that what we now consider “breaking news”?  Here is a headline that should have received all of our attention.  Sure, nobody wants to think about the dangers veterans face in combat, and we definitely don’t want to think about nor talk about veterans committing suicide.

Part of being an effective integrated leader is addressing difficult problems, not dismissing problems.  Veterans have put their lives on the line for us, we need to continue to reach out and support veterans in our day-to-day lives.
